God hears our prayers

Just a quick reminder, "Prayer isn't to remind God what your problems are, but prayer is to remind your problems who God is." God is incredible! Powerful. Loving. He hears our prayers. He won't forget.

Start Over

My sister found a really cool song and I thought I would share it with you all! It's a cool reminder that Jesus didn't come for the perfect. He didn't die for us because we are "perfect", so we don't have to keep trying to be so and then become depressed when we fail. Jesus doesn't want that. He loves us before we loved him. We can stop trying to be perfect, and instead, just try our best to be the person Jesus wants us to be.

Summary of Psalm 91

Hey! So sorry for the scattered posts. I will try to keep up at my normal pace again.
Today I found this interesting quote in my study bible. It's not a verse, but it's a quick summary of Psalm 91. It says, "God doesn't promise a world free from danger, but he does promise his help whenever we face danger."
I thought it was a cool perspective to keep in mind. Many of us might think that once we accept Christ and are Christians, we will suddenly become invincible, but God never said that. He told us that he would help us escape danger, not that we wouldn't ever be captured by it. We should also remember that when we cry out to Him for help, we can then leave it in his hands to solve. It's not our job to tell God how to bring us away from harm.

Psalm 49:16-17

Hi all! I recently read a verse the other day, and it kind of gave me a new perspective, so I thought I would share it with you!
"Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them." Psalm 49:16-17
This is actually pretty interesting if you think about it. Money is a huge thing in today's life, but honestly, it's kind of worthless. If you can't take it to heaven, what's so special about it? You cannot buy your way into heaven. People seem to only focus on making money so that they can buy some fancy car or house or clothes, but once they die and leave it all behind, it almost seems like a waste of a life. They could've been doing something useful.

Every step of the way

Isn't it amazing? Amazing that we don't have to have any worries. God is right next to us every step of the way. Even when plans don't go the way we wanted them to go, we can be assured that God has something better for us! We can be excited because God has a better future for us. We can sit in God's hands and rest there. Thank you, Lord that I don't have to face this sinful world alone!

Why do you believe?

A couple days ago, my brother asked an interesting question. I feel like most of us think that the most important question everyone should answer is, "What do you believe?" but maybe it's not. It is a question everyone should answer, but maybe the bigger question is, "Why do you believe?"
Everyone has an answer to the first question, whether they think they do or not. They might believe that it doesn't matter what you believe, or they might have an actual belief. The second question is a little more tricky though. Sure, you might know what you believe, but how about why? Do you have legitimate reasons? Evidence?
Consider the answer not only I began to answer, but also many other Christians might answer: "I know it in my heart."

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's are an incredible gift from God. What would we do without them? I just wanted to wish all you mother's out there an amazing day!
I think a lot of us forget what our mother's do for us. Why did God even give them to us? Being human, we have a desire to be loved. God does love us, and we know that, but we still need someone we can see and touch, and God knew that. Because he cannot be with us physically, he gave us mothers. That's why their love is so strong. They must be the love that God cannot be because of our sin.
Thank you God for giving us that extraordinary love! Thank you Mothers for being that extraordinary love that God has asked you to be!

Fear

Hey all! I just wanted I would share a few of my thoughts with you.
Everyone has at least one fear whether they admit it or not. That doesn't mean they don't trust God, but what about fear of God? I think probably all of us have questioned him before about his plans; "Why is this happening to me?" "When is this going to end?" "Why haven't you saved me already?" but if we think about it, we aren't really in a position to ask him that. Especially if we tremble at the sight of harmless, tiny spiders or garden snakes, or even things much bigger and actually harmful like sharks or bears.
No matter how scary or hurtful sharks can be, God is still more powerful. So how can we possibly question God who is much more powerful than anything else? He could do much worse, and yet we are still accusing him?

Could you still love God?

What does it mean to love God more than anything else? This is something that I have been considering for a while, something I feel like we should all know. A lot of people say that they love God more than anyone else - I've especially heard that at Christian weddings - so what does that really mean?
Imagine that your life is just full of goodness and happiness. You're a Christian who loves the Lord and your family loves the Lord too. You have everything you need and want and more, and you're super thankful to God, which makes you feel great! Of course everyone should be thankful to God, and you are, so that's awesome! Basically, life couldn't get better. And then... it really just... doesn't.
