Remember God!

Hello all! With Thanksgiving coming up I feel like everything is just about to get crazy busy. This next week, as we are preparing for two thanksgivings, I will probably not be posting as much as I have been. And when I do, it will be small posts. :) A little bit of advice though: as we are becoming busy with family and friends and different activities during Thanksgiving, don't forget to give thanks.
I know this sounds a little weird, but it's true. Thanksgiving should be a day full of remembering all of the blessings God has given us! It's not about getting the turkey in the oven in time, or making sure your guests don't see a wrecked house. It's not even about you or your guests having a good time! Of course, you want everyone to be happy including yourself, which could also mean you need to have the turkey ready in time, and your house shouldn't be a mess, but ultimately, these things are just unnecessary.
Don't go and make yourself stressed doing something that has nothing to do with the true meaning of Thanksgiving. AS we are making the turkey, AS we are cleaning the house, AS we and our guests are having a good time, remember everything God has done for us. We have the ability to do these things, and who gave us these abilities?
Thanksgiving is about thanking God for EVERYTHING! The turkey is delicious because of Him, not us; the house is clean because of Him, not us; we are having fun because of Him, not us. We should be thanking God everyday for our blessings, but this is a day where if we forget, we can remember. But society has made it a stressful day! In the end, the day is usually successful, and you'll finally be able to relax, but before that, the stress has made you forget about the one day we can at last remember what God has given you.
So I encourage you to remember. Yes, preparation can be important, but not important enough to busy yourself into forgetting. I hope this week, you have time to thank God for all He's done for you, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  1. This is sooo true, Jasmine! It seems crazy to forget to be thankful on Thanksgiving, but most people do it! Thank you so much for the reminder!

  2. Such a good reminder Jaz!!....I love how you put it....not to "busy ourselves into forgetting," but to remember to intentionally thank God for all He has done for us, which is so much, and includes all the little things we so often take for granted! Thank you for sharing!
